1969: 311 (my draft lottery number)

Students in good standing automatically were classified as 2-S (a student deferment) (More on classification system)). In December 1st, 1969, a draft lottery for all men of draft age (those born between 1944 and 1950) was held. My Brother-in-Law (Tom Gilbert) and I watched this on TV. His draft number was 309 and mine was 311. On of my friends was number 1 (born on September 14th). The next year all men up to number 185 were drafted. I was resolved to go if drafted!
