2008 Report on the Fourth Baptist Young Adult Ministry

Kathee and I rejoice at the opportunity to minister with our co-laborers Josh and Heidi Boyd in the Fourth Baptist Young Adult (4BYA) ministry. We thank the Pastors, the church, and especially the Young Adults for this great privilege.

The ministry of the 4BYA is integral to Fourth Baptist Church and under the auspices of the Pastoral leadership team. Thus our goals and objectives are common with that of the church. They are to:

  • Glorify God: “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  • Equip believers: “for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12)
  • Herald the truth of the Savior (the Lord Jesus Christ): “woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16)
  • Faithfully participate in the life and ministry of our Church: “To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse” (Colossians 1:2)
  • Build effective Christ-honoring relationships by obeying the one another commands.

Who are the 4BYA’ers?

  • Many minister in the choir and church orchestra.
  • Many serve in AWANA and other youth ministries.
  • Many are serving or have served the Lord in Korea, China, France and other countries.
  • Many serve in the church nursery, usher, and on church committees.
  • Many are preparing specifically for vocational ministry at Bible Colleges and Seminaries.
  • Many serve in the camp ministry.
  • Some are serving the Lord full time at the church, the seminary, the school, or the radio station.
  • Many serve the Lord as volunteers at the Metro Womens’ Center.
  • Some are serving our great country in the military.
  • In summary: we have some really fine Young Adults!

Highlights this year:

  • Eric White presented a series of messages on the warning passages of Hebrews.
  • We have been studying the book of Ephesians since January.
  • We met several times for planning. One of those times, we focused on the “one-another” commands of the Scriptures.
  • We undertook several service projects including a yard waste cleanup for a member of the church and sending care packages to one of our Marines serving in Iraq.
  • This Summer there are half a dozen weddings.

We have been tremendously blessed to serve alongside the fine 4BYA’ers this year!

Sincerely,

Kathee and Jim Peet
